Alaskan Malamute is one of the bigger dog races originating from Alaska. Formerly this dog race is used to pull freight trains that are resistant to very cold temperatures, but now these dogs are treated as pets and show dogs. Originally the race was developed by the Chukchi community in Northeast Asia as a towing dog train to carry loads. In 1909, the first time a number of these dogs were brought to Alaska to compete in long-distance matches throughout Alaska. In the winter of 1925, when the Diptheria fever struck the town of Nome, a remote part of Alaska, this dog relay team carried a human life-saving serum from the distant Neana region. The passionate zeal for the heroes of the riders and their dogs earned national accolades. One of the riders, Leonhard Seppala, brought his Siberian Husky team, the original offspring imported from Siberia, to the United States on the way to his private performances. When in England, he competes in a match with a towing dog and once again proves the power of the Siberian Husky that defeats other local dogs. The English state awarded the recognition of this breed dog in the 1930s and the Siberian Husky Club was founded in America in 1938.
